Indocara is located only 4 blocks from the capitol center of downtown Madison at 540 West Washington Ave. Constructed in 1929 for Joyce Funeral Home, the building is recognized by the Wisconsin Historical Society as being an architectural example of a Mediterranean Revival tradition, which became increasingly popular in the early 20th century, but still uncommon for even that time period. The building features design elements that are typical to this style, and also characteristics of a Neo-Classical style – arches in window bays, doors and entryways; symmetrical detailing; pillars or false beams; stuccoed walls. Most of these elements have been preserved at 540 West Washington Ave.

The mixture of global influences through architecture and interior design is inspirational, with undertones of symbolic representation.
